Self-Operating Napkin

This Self-Operating Napkin works as follows:
First, the man lifts up his spoon to eat his soup; the spoon is connected with a cord.  When he lifts up the spoon, the cord is moved, occasioning that the cracker in the ladle is pulled upward then, the parrot moves to catch the bread, tilting the perch.  The perch has seeds in the other side so; the pail is filled with seeds, tilting another perch, moving the cord that it is connected with the automatic cigar lighter, lighting the automatic cigar lighter and fire the sky-rocket.  After that, the sky-rocket flies and sickle is moved, cutting the cord that holds the pendulum.  In the pendulum is the napkin.  When the cord is cut, the pendulum is release and the napkin will wipe off the man’s chin.

What if

  1. If chinese were discovered the world before europeans, we would speak mandarin instead of spanish or english. Actually, mandarin would be the international language instead of english. I also think that they have a different culture that spanishs so maybe  all america would be one country. I also think that latin america would have less poor people because they would have developed really colonies through all america. Spanish only came to america to use the resources they did not develop any kind of economie there.
  2. If two forms of highly intelligent life had evolved on earth, we would life in better condition.  These two forms of highly intelligent life would work together on Earth and they would put all their effort, intelligent and the best of them for better conditions, improving things that  do not have solution.
I think that all the processes would be simples, the problems in the earth, illnesses and other things would be solved.  They would do different things to improve and ensure a better life for all.  They would use all their intelligent for it

Heading in Data Commentaries

Hi professor

Certainly, there is a different between the results of makeup exam and regular exam that different is about 14 point of Regular exam over the Makeup exam. However, as you can see in the table 16 there are three factor that can explain logically why it happens, which are date and hour , number of student , temperature of classroom.

First of all is date, the regular exam was administered on Wednesday and the makeup exam on Friday.  As student I can say that we have many responsibilities such as homework and exams every week. It could be really stressful. Even although It does not sound good , the most common strategy is work in them in a chronology way. That means the study for the test on Friday was maybe done Friday during the day. While the Wednesday test was study maybe on previous weekend.
Second is the number of the student, I think that could be the mainly reason . You can notice that on makeup exam only was applied to 25 students. While, the regular exam was applied to 125 students. That means that one or two bad grades can affect highly the average on makeup test.
Finally, The temperature in the classroom on Friday it was so hot arround 28 C. The students was complaining all the time about it , but I could not do anything to solve it .
I think that different between the average on the two test is more that supported on these factors.

Literature review

The introductions define the context of researches. Introductions help to reader about what they can expect to find within of academic paper. Introductions also help to researchers to define and focus in their goals and researches’ scopes.  Due to introductions importance a lot of work has been done about them. I found around fifty studies about introductions in diverse areas, such as, agriculture, applied linguistics biology and of course computer sciences.  The most popular discipline among these papers were linguistic with eight studies and computer science with four studies. Twenty seven studies were done using CARS model as framework and over using the Corpus as Method. In the language, how is expected English with forty eight researches and the second place Spanish and Chinese with four researches each one

Information Flow

1. The new political philosophy which are emerging from these studies can affect our country for years to come.

2. In my opinion, the greatest threat to American democracy is the executive’s tendency to usurp the authority to declare war.

3. In large Chinese universities, teachers’ opportunities to work with individual students are limited.

4.College students often complain of teachers who, after assigning a long final term paper at the end of the semester, only give a grade without providing other feedback such as critical comments.

6. During the reign of Queen Elizabeth, the story of King Lear and his daughters was so popular that by the time she died, reader could find it in at least a dozen books. Most of the stories, however, did not develop their characters and were simple narratives with an obvious moral. It would therefore seem that several versions of this story must have been available to Shakespeare when he began work on Lear, perhaps his greatest tragedy. But while be based his characters on these stock figures of legend, he turned them into credible human beings with complex motives.

Why the societies collapse Jared Diamond’s 2003 talk

He analyses the reasons why the societies collapse. He mentions societies that collapse, such as Mayas and Somalia. Stating that it is not because of one factor.

First of all, he defines a five point framework  in order to explain society collapses and illustrates by using  two as societies as example. They are Greenland North and South West Montana societies.  The five point are Human impact, on the environment, Climate change, Neighbor friendly societies, Hostile society and Political, social, cultural problem.

Second, He also speaks about that in many cases the collapse after  the society reach its peak in few decades. For instances, the Mayas and Soviet Union reach speak and very soon after that they collapse. He made analogy with a bacteria in petry dish   to explain mismatch between available recourses and resources consumption. Bacteria grow there the duplicate their number each generation but suddenly there is not food enough food. That is the reason because the societies collapse very soon after get their peaks.

Finally, he explains how the societies do not realizes that the collapsing . They are conflict of interest of decision making elites and it is hard for a society to make good decisions when there is a conflict involving strongly held values that are good in many circumstances but are poor in other circumstances. He explains that there a lot of thing that we do not understand  and need to understand about our societies to avoid collapses.

Move 1b about current theories about citations

Citations are widely recognized as being an important and distinctive property of academic texts. As a consequence, the presence or absence of citation allows the casual reader to get an immediate sense of whether a text is an academic or popular one. Because citation is such an obvious surface phenomenon, it has been much discussed in the academic world. Indeed, there are several theories about the role and purpose of citations in academic texts.

Move 1b
Here , It will introduce the six main theories. Two of them are of public domain, and other four are from specific authors. The first theory is widely used in manuals and it proposes that the citations are used to recognize and acknowledge the intellectual property rights of authors. They are a matter of ethics an( a defense against plagiarism. The second  is well established fields like the sciences and it proposes  Citations are used to show respect to previous scholars. They recognize the history of the field by acknowledging previous achievements. The other four are as mentioned before are from specific authors

While Ravetz(1971) sais that  citations operate as a kind of mutual reward system. Rather than pay other authors money for their contributions, writers "pay" them in citations. Gilbert (1977) explains that citations are tools of persuasion; writers use citations to give their statements greater authority. However Bavelas (1978) think that citations are used to supply evidence that the author qualifies as a member of the chosen scholarly community; citations are used to demonstrate familiarity with the field. Finally, Swales (1991) stated that  citations are used to create a research space for the citing author. By describing what has been done, citations point the way to what has not been done and so prepare a space for new research.

Time management for graduate student

Choosing a bachelor degree is a very important decision.  Moreover,  The labor  martke is very competitive today. Every day, the job hunting is a more difficult task, and even if you get a job is difficult being promoted. These situations lead to people look for more specialization in their different fields. They decide to take a master. However, they have problems to manage their time. Graduate students usually are taking at least 3 courses each semester. In addition, they have to work to afford their studies, and they take care of relative, such as children and wife.
A lot of universities, thinking in these students are implementing online courses where students from their house can access to their classes and learn.  Online courses are every day more popular. They provide videos about classes, online practices and books to students .  Even although the students still have to work  full time and take care of their family, this alternative make  their studies easier. They save commuting time going to the university, and they can access to their classes whenever they want.
